About
Cuenca, Ecuador, is where my story begins. The lush landscapes of my hometown instilled in me a deep appreciation for nature and its intricate processes. From an early age, I was fascinated by the source of Cuenca’s renowned clean water, which originates in the high-altitude mountain ecosystems known as páramos. Curious about the natural processes that sustain these vital water resources and how water is distributed throughout the city, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) and later a master’s degree in Hydrology at the University of Cuenca. These academic experiences deepened my understanding of the water cycle and strengthened my commitment to studying hydrologic systems.
